Today’s modern office generally runs off of the best networking technology that the market has on offer, ranging from high-speed Wi-Fi connections to printers that print directly from the cloud. But as technology continues to evolve, we’re starting to see more “smart” technologies entering our everyday lives.
Designed to provide as much convenience as possible, smart tech is changing the way we live, work, and interact with one another. And the office might be the most affected of all in next few years.
Artificial Intelligence
Whether you’re afraid or excited for artificial intelligence, it’s going to have a major impact on our lives in the coming future, especially within the office environment. AI and machine learning have already begun to change the way we interact with our technology.
One area of expertise that could see major improvements is the legal world, where advanced machine learning bots are assisting lawyers with finding case files that are decades old. We also might begin to see more intelligent virtual assistants in the future, capable of completing a huge range of various tasks.
Communication
For a long time, the primary method of communication in the business world has been the humble email, and it still reigns as king of all office memos. But we’re starting to see other forms of communication emerge, such as Google’s G-Suite, which can link an entire office together, giving personnel the ability to share files, messages, and much more in real-time.
This is only the starting point, however, and many predict that online connectivity and networking will become so prevalent in the business world that a large portion of the workforce will be able to work without ever having to come into the office.
Virtual Reality
Another technology that continues to see development is Virtual Reality, followed closely by Augmented Reality. These technologies will benefit a wide range of professions, such as doctors and architects. Imagine a doctor being able to perform surgery while having all the information he needs in real time, allowing him to see exactly where a blockage is in a person’s heart.
We may even see if spread into our recreational lives, such as online real money pokies games and other types of online gaming. VR technology has the potential to completely change the way we absorb information, from information about groceries to making video calls with a pair of glasses.
Energy Efficiency
We’re in an age where there’s a great need to not just find sources of renewable energy, but to lessen our overall consumption, and this can take the use of smart strategy to achieve. One of the best ways to do this is by cutting down on usage or using better technology.
Smart lighting is an excellent example of this: providing an office with lighting that automatically changes to best suit the people working in the office, allowing the bulbs to use overall less energy. More efficient air conditioners, full control over windows and ventilation, and environmentally friendly building materials are just some of the steps we can take toward making the world a healthier, greener place for everyone, both in the office and outside of it.
